چکیده

The motion control of a surface ship based on four degrees freedom (4-DoF) (surge, sway, roll, and yaw) maneuvering model is studied in this paper. A time-scale decomposition method introduced to solve the path-following problem, implementing Rudder Roll Stabilization (RRS) at same time. objectives are let track predefined curve path under environmental disturbances, reduce roll singular perturbation used decouple whole system into two subsystems different time scales: slow subsystem fast reduction subsystem. coupling effect also considered framework analysis. RRS only possible when there so-called bandwidth separation characteristic system, which requires large gap between subsystems. To avoid being affected by wave disturbances high frequency uncertainties, L1 adaptive subsystem, while Proportion-Differentiation (PD) law adopted Simulation results show effectiveness robustness proposed strategy.

Rudder roll stabilization for ships

Advanced control algorithms using LQG and adaptive control techniques enable the design of an economically attractive alternative for conventional fin stabilizers and have proved to be robust during simulation experiments and full-scale trials. Abstract-This paper describes the design of an autopilot for rudder roll stabilization for ships. This autopilot uses the rudder not only for course kee...

Optimal Universal Controllers for Rudder Roll Stabilization

Roll stabilization (damping) is an important problem of ship motion control since excessive roll motion may cause motion sickness of human occupants and damage fragile cargo. This problem becomes especially non-trivial in situations where the same actuators are used for the vessel’s roll and yaw stabilization. To keep the “trade-off” between the concurrent goals of accurate course steering and ...

Fuzzy Sliding Mode Control for Ship Roll Stabilization

A fuzzy sliding mode controller is proposed in this study for ship roll stabilization. Ship dynamic models usually contain large uncertainty. Sliding mode control is well known for its good robustness to large uncertainty. However, the required uncertainty bound is usually difficult to estimate. A fuzzy logic is designed here for the upper bound estimation of the uncertainty coming mostly from ...

Ship roll damping control

The technical feasibility of roll motion control devices has been amply demonstrated for over 100 years. Performance, however, can still fall short of expectations because of difficulties associated with control system designs, which have proven to be far from trivial due to fundamental performance limitations and large variations of the spectral characteristics of wave-induced roll motion. Thi...

Ship Roll Motion Control

The technical feasibility of roll motion control devices has been amply demonstrated for over 100 years. Performance, however, can still fall short of expectations because of deficiencies in control system designs, which have proven to be far from trivial due to fundamental performance limitations. This tutorial paper presents an account of the development of various ship roll motion control sy...
